As one of the top interior designers in Kochi, we have designed many homes following the preferences and choices of our clients. But most of the time, a client would leave it to us to decide upon decor ideas. That is our most important part, and we designed hundreds of homes to perfection. Here, we are sharing some home decor ideas from our experience.
Find Out Your Style
This is the basic aspect you need to understand before designing your home. Think about how you want the space to feel. There are some tricks for that. Firstly, you can look into your closet. Determine your style, like what type of clothing you prefer, is it tailored, comfortable, modern, etc. By this, you can also know if you gravitate towards certain colors or patterns. Also, think of the keywords that define how you want your space to be – it may be formal, elegant, traditional, inviting, etc.
Determine What You Don’t Like
Like finding out what you like your space to be, it is as much as important to determine what you don’t like to have in there. It is very easy to know what you really don’t want in your home. So, we can avoid those elements and narrow down on others while designing. For instance, you don’t want a large painting in your living room because it would remind you of something that is not pleasant, so you can avoid it right from your list.
Plan Your Space
Space planning is important in your interior design as it impacts scale. People often choose furniture that are too large or too small for their space. Think about balancing the space while choosing any decor item. For larger rooms, you can establish zones for different purposes – a seating area dedicated for coffee, another area to watch television, a space to work, etc. Proportion and scale are key factors to great interior design.
Mix Different Price Points
While choosing home decor items, it doesn’t always mean that you have to select the costliest articles for the best look. It is indeed a false idea, and a high price doesn’t mean that something is better than the other. Sometimes the most humble articles can have the most soul and beauty in your living room. Instead of shopping for decor items from branded shops, try flea markets and local shops. You will be amazed by the exclusivity they can offer.
